Food and hygiene at the Indian Railways remain a major concern for passengers, with alleged videos emerging on social media featuring contaminated food, unhygienic ways of making them, and more. Recently, another such video capturing rats enjoying open food at an IRCTC stall has raised concerns among all. Reportedly, the footage, uploaded on social media platform X (formerly Twitter), was from Itarsi Junction railway station in Madhya Pradesh. Shared from the handle @trainwalebhaiya, by a person named Saurabh, the video has gained significant attention on the internet. Official RailwaySeva handle too responded to the post, assuring immediate actions will be taken.

In a 37-second video, we could see patties, eggs, bread, and containers lying openly in a closed IRCTC stall at the Itarsi station, and some pesky rats rummaging through the foods. “Rats on IRCTC food inspection duty. The reason why I avoid eating food from Railway station vendors!”
