A ball-boy stole the limelight in the Pakistan Super League on Monday, taking a stunning catch beyond the boundary rope. Though six runs were credited to the batter’s account for clearing the rope, it was the ball-boy who drew plaudits from fans in the stadium, as well as Kiwi star Colin Munro, for his diving catch. Munro, who was placed near the boundary rope where the ball-boy took the catch, was amazed to see the little child’s effort and decided to give him a warm hug.

The incident took place during the match between Islamabad United and Peshawar Zalmi. It was a delivery from Islamabad pacer Faheem Ashraf that Zalmi’s Amer Jamal hit for a maximum.

In the same match earlier, the ball-boy had dropped the catch. But he didn’t spill the chance the second time. While the ball marginally crossed the rope, it was amazing to see a fielder celebrating a six, sharing a light moment with the ball-boy. Here’s the video:

Islamabad United emerged triumphant, limiting Peshawar Zalmi to 167/9 after scoring 196/4 themselves. Shadab Khan was named the player of the match.

“It wasn’t a typical Rawalpindi pitch, was spongy early on and ball was swinging, but if you get momentum here, it’s hard to stop. We didn’t have a set total in mind but were approaching it over by over and were looking to get at-least one boundary in every over. The way ball was seaming around until the 11th-12th over, we knew we could create problems with our pace attack. (On 300th wicket) Feeling like I’m in rhythm, if you look at figures, they don’t look good but I think they were good if you consider the match situation. Hunain is getting better day by day and hopefully, he will represent Pakistan one day. You find a good 11 during the tournament. We tried a few combinations but it’s working well now,” Shadab said after the game.
