Ishan Kishan “Will Walk Into Playing XI…”: Top Cricket Official’s Huge Hint For Indian Cricket Team Star

Despite the India vs Afghanistan T20I series going on, which has Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli coming back into the format, the one Indian cricket team star who is being discussed the most is Ishan Kishan. The talented wicketkeeper-batter returned home mid-way from India’s Tour of South Africa after he asked for a break. Later on, he was not picked for the T20I series against Afgahanistan. He has not been named in the first two Tests against England. There were reports that Ishan Kishan has some dislinary issue for which he was not being picked.

Indian cricket team coach Rahul Dravid, however said, that was not the case. He added that Ishan Kishan has not made himself available for selection. Once he makes himself available, Dravid added he’ll play domestic cricket to make a national team comeback.

“No Absolutely not (no disciplinary action). Ishan Kishan was not available for selection. Ishan Kishan requested for a break in South Africa, which we agreed to and supported, recognised. He has not yet made himself available for selection. I am sure when he is available, he will play domestic cricket and make himself available for selection,” Rahul Dravid said during the pre-match press conference ahead of the first India vs Afghanistan T20I.

When PTI contacted Jharkhand State Cricket Association (JSCA) secretary Debasish Chakraborty to enquire if Kishan had made himself available for the on-going Ranji Trophy, he answered in negative.

“No, Ishan hasn’t contacted us or told us anything about his availability. Whenever he tells us, he will walk into the playing XI,” Chakraborty told PTI.

Meanwhile, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) on Friday announced Team India’s squad for the first two Tests against England. Among notable absentees, pacer Mohammed Shami, wicketkeeper-batter Ishan Kishan and all-rounder Shardul Thakur are not part of the 17-man squad.

The first two Test matches will be played in Hyderabad and Visakhapatnam, respectively. Shami has been out of action due to an ankle injury, while Kishan had asked for rest. Meanwhile, young wicketkeeper-batter Dhruv Jurel has received a maiden call-up for the series starting January 25. Rohit Sharma will lead the side, while star pacer Jasprit Bumrah has been named vice-captain.

Pacer Avesh Khan has also been added to the squad, having been part of the group for the second and final Test against South Africa earlier this month. Pacer Prasidh Krishna will also take no part in the first two Tests.

As per a report in news agency Press Trust of India, Krishna is doubtful for the upcoming series, having picked up an injury during Karnataka’s Ranji Trophy match between Gujarat.
