1. Pickles

A staple in Indian cuisine, pickles offer tangy and spicy flavours in every bite. In Indian households, you can find a variety of pickles made with all kinds of vegetables. From mango to mixed vegetables, the list of pickles is endless. When stored properly in a cool, dry place and in air-tight containers, pickles can last up to 1 year. However, once opened, they should either be refrigerated or stored in a cool, dry place and consumed within 3-4 months for the best texture and flavours.

2. Chutneys

A versatile condiment that offers bold flavours, chutneys range from sweet to spicy. Although, these taste best when consumed fresh, homemade chutneys have a typically shorter shelf life as compared to store-bought varieties. Chutneys should be consumed within one week of being made and refrigerated to maintain freshness. Market-bought chutneys contain preservatives that extend their shelf life.

3. Sauces

Sauces like red chilli sauce, green chilli sauce, schezwan sauce, etc. add heat and flavour to dishes, making them a treat for spice lovers. These sauce bottles can be stored for several months if not opened. However, once opened, refrigerate the sauces to retain their freshness and flavour.
